MJ is a School-Based Therapist, licensed Mental Health Counselor with five years of experience in the field of mental health. She specializes in working with children and adolescents, though she has also worked with adult clients. MJ has experience supporting survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence, as well as individuals who have experienced trauma. She also previously worked as an evaluator in the substance abuse field.
She earned her bachelor's degree from Augustana in 2013 and her master's in clinical and Mental Health Counseling from Western Illinois University in 2022. MJ is a temporary licensed Mental Health Counselor in Iowa.
She believes that clients are experts on their own lives and that her therapeutic role is to walk beside them on their journey. MJ is committed to supporting all clients, no matter their gender, race, orientation, or beliefs. She works to create a non-judgmental and accepting atmosphere where clients feel they can share.
Outside of her professional life, MJ enjoys spending time with her family, reading fantasy novels, and playing video games. She loves to create art, candles, soaps, and crochet. She believes in the importance of self-care for maintaining work life balance.
