Muscatine Domestic Violence Shelter

Peace Begins at Home

The Sexual Assault/Domestic Abuse Shelter is a large 4 bedroom house with 1 bedroom being handicapped assessable in Muscatine. The shelter is staffed 24 hours a day with the location being kept confidential for security and safety reasons.

During a clients stay with us they will be assigned a counselor that will meet with them on a weekly basis to set and help them achieve their goals. The client is responsible for meeting their own goals, with the guidance of their counselor. Our role is to give resources, options and support. We also have woman's group once a week to help clients with such things as, what is a health relationship, boundaries and self esteem issues. Length of stay can be up to 90 days depending on availability of space, working on their goals and following the living agreement (policies).

The shelter is community living with sharing living room, dinning room, kitchen and bathroom. Depending on space available clients may have to share bedrooms with other clients if needed. We do have a washer and dryer and some house food for clients till they have an income or are receiving benefits of their own. We believe everyone deserves to have a life and home free of violence.

If you or someone you know needs help due to sexual assault or domestic violence please call 1-563-263-8080 or 1-866-921-3354 answered 24 hours a day.
