Supervised Apartment Living (SAL)
Supervised Apartment Living (SAL) provides adolescents guidance and training in independent living skills with an emphasis on coping with everyday situations and taking responsibility for one’s actions and future. Eligibility Requirements An individual is eligible when the following criteria is met: -
At least 16 years of age. If the individual is 18 or older, the individual has not received a high school diploma or equivalent. -
If under 18, the individual must be employed full-time, in work training full-time or attending high school or equivalent and working part-time or in work training part-time. -
Need foster care placement and services, based on an assessment completed. -
Court ordered service -
Participate in the development of their case plan and comply with its provisions. -
Refrain from illegal behavior including using controlled substances or alcohol. -
Have capacity to function outside the structure of a foster family or group care setting. -
Have the potential to be financially and emotionally independent upon discharge from foster care. Clients must demonstrate the maturity to make decisions on their own.
