Victory HouseThe Victory House Program is a residential facility for adolescent males ages 12-17 located at the Wittenmyer Youth Center campus in Davenport, IA. The adaptable milieu management model at Victory House enables the program to serve clients of varied intellectual and social functioning levels. The residents at Victory House have either acquired delinquent charges prior to placement or are experiencing such severe disruption at home or in the community that future delinquent behavior is probable without intervention. With that in mind, Victory House focuses on victim empathy, self-esteem and family relational issues.
Victory House places an emphasis on the teaching of social skills to assist residents in developing the ability to interact with others in a given social context in specific ways that are socially acceptable or valued and, at the same time, are personally beneficial. The milieu management system used by teh program encourages youth to identify internal motivation to succeed. Points are connected with all decisions a client makes and those are in turn used to gage the level of privileges available to the youth. A natural transition home happens as the youth begins frequent home visits, employment, interaction, access to building and maintaining community supports, etc.
