Adoption Q&ACan anyone become an adoptive parent?Only after completing a detailed background check and mandatory training. Do birth parents have any rights in making a plan of adoption?Yes, the adoption plan is personalized to fit your needs, there are many options and the choice is all yours. Is my identify confidential?Yes, if that is what you choose. What if I don’t know who the birth father is, does he have to agree to the plan of adoption?Certain attempts must be made to identify the birth father. If he is identified and he does not agree with your adoption plan, you still have options. Do I have to pay for all medical expenses?Not necessarily. Often times Title IXX covers expenses incurred during pregnancy and delivery, your case manager will assist with this process. Can I change my mind once I choose to adopt?Yes, the timeframe varies in Iowa and Illinois. Your case manager can explain the rules for your state. Our staff will always support you, no matter what your decision. What type of support can I expect after the adoption?Counseling and referral services are always available at no cost.
